Each of my Sterling Silver pieces is hallmarked by the Assay
Office in London.
The compulsory UK Hallmarks consists of :

Sponsor's Mark which in our case is AB in a circle

The Fineness Mark which is 925 for Stirling Silver
-
The Assay Office Mark which is a Lion's head for the London
Office
-
The Traditional Fineness Symbols which is a Lion for Sterling
Silver
-
A Date Letter
The Sponsor's Mark is added at the Foundry and then the piece
is sent to the Assay Office where the Silver content is validated and the
other marks are added.
